                   DR. T C STOCKTON, 1911;  WILL OF PARENTS PROVED 1 MAR 1747/8; removed to
    Menallen Twsp, then in York (now Adams) Co, PA where he purchased 300 acres of
    land in 1765. His son, Robert, had preceded him to that place... In later life
    he took up his residence with his dau., Elizabeth Waddell, at Chambersburg and
    removed with her to a place near Mercersberg, PA. where he died May 31, 1795
   "A very old man aged over 86 years." He was an elder of the Presby. Church and
    was buried at Church Hill Cem. at Upper West Conocheague Church 2 or 3 miles
    east  of Chambersburg. This church no longer exists.

WILL FROM DR. T.C. STOCKTON'S BOOK, PG 238; "In the name of God Amen, October
    the 19th 1794. I Thomas Stockton, in Twsp of Peters, Co. of Franklin, Province
    of PA, being sick and weak in body but yet in Perfect Mind and memory blessed
    be God for it. Calling to Mind the mortality of my body I ordain this to be my
    Last Will and Testament. First of all I recommend my Soul to God that gave it
    trusting that thro the Death and Suffering of Jesus Christ at the General
    Resurrection I shall receive the same again and ever live in glory with my
    blessed redeemer. My will is that I be decently buried at the Discretion of my
    Executors hereafter mentioned and as for the Worldy Goods it hath pleased God
    to endue me with I leave them as follows viz: That Note which I have of my son
    Thomas Stockton I do bequeath to my son John Stockton his heirs and Assigns.
    and further that 50 pounds that was Due to me in the year 1786 I bequeath what
    is due of it only the interest to my son David Stockton, the Remainder to my
    daughter Elizabeth Waddell. And the other 50 pounds which Was Due in the year
    1787 I Do bequeath as followeth. I first allow my funeral Charges occurring
    thereon, to be paid out of it, and the remainder as followeth. I do bequeath
    10 pounds out of it to my son Robert Stockton, and 15 pounds unto my Daughter
    Isabella Neilson, and 10 pounds to my Daughter Mary Bard, and 10 pounds to my
    Daughter Margaret Johnston, and 5 pounds to my son Thomas Stockton. I further
    do order and appoint my soninlaw, William Waddell to be My Whole and Sole
    Executor of this my last Will and Testament revokeing Disanuling and
    Disallowing all former Wills and Testaments whatsoever made or commended by me
    before the day and year writen above.  P.S. I do allow my bed and clothes to
    my daughter Elizabeth Waddell except my curtains; I do given them to my
    Daughter Isabella Neilson. And further I do bequeath to my Grandson Thomas
    Stockton my Great Coat and Strait Coat and my breaches to my son John
    Stockton. As witness My hand and Seal the day and year above written. Wit:

WILLIAM FRANCIS CREGAR, 1888, "Ancestry of Samuel Stockton White" says in
    Appendix VIII, The Virginia Stocktons; III Thomas Stockton of Berkeley
    Co., WVA, b. c.1709. About 1770 Thomas removed to Chambersburg, PA where his
    son Robert was already settled. Thomas and daughter, Elizabeth Wadell removed
    to Mercersburg, PA where he died 3 MAY 1795 age 86 plus. He was an elder of
    the Presbyterian Church." (birthplace is unknown.  may have come to America
    with father as a full grown man (?)

     Taxed in West Nottingham Twsp, 1734-1748; 1750 taxed in Sadsbury Twsp, first
     documented evidence in that county. 1750 taxes based on 60 acres, 8 bushels
     of winter grain, 2 horses, 3 cows, 6 sheep and no servants or negroes. Taxed
     1762 and 1772 in Menallen Twsp.
    Served as road Viewer several times 1760-1768; 1765 elected to 3 year term as
    a County Commissioner; 1768, one of 7 men appointed by April session of court
    to build a stone bridge over the Colorus Creek in York; Menallen Twsp Assessor
    1774-1775.

    C.C.Neilson; Isabella is buried in West Liberty Cemetary, the tombstone
        inscription reads: "In memory of Isabella Nelson who departed this life
        October 20th 1816, aged 82 years". therefore she was born approx. 1734. There
        is no further supporting data for her birth.
        Isabella married John Neilson about 1754, probably at her father's home in
        Menallen Twsp, York Co., PA. John Neilson was born about 1731. Between 1755
        and 1774, they had at least 9 and possibly 11 children.  John and 2 of their
        sons, fought in the Rev. War (which ones?) Isabella and her husband witnessed
        her uncle David's 1752 will.
        they lived in Menallen, York Co, until at least 1762. (taxed); Letterkenny,
        Cumberland Co., PA in 1763-1797. (became Franklin Co, 1784); 1797 to WVA
        vicinity of West Liberty, VA (now WVA) about 8 miles from Wheeling.
        Isabella died intestate. Her estate settlement identified her 2 living sons,
        John and James, a dec'd son, Joseph, and husbands of 5 of her 6 daughters,
        John Caldwell, William Waddell, John Marling, John Poke and William Huston.
    DEED OF SALE, 5 APR 1797, Franklin Co., Deed Book 4, p 239; John Neilson and
        his wife Isobel sold 337 acres to Martin Nisle of Lancaster Co, from land that
        John Patented 18 SEP 1787. Adjoining land owners were James Mitchell, John
        Stevenson, John Wilson, Alexander Rumix, Robert Stogdon, James Jordan and
        Samuel Burgess.

        Chambersburg, PA, some time prior to 9 MAY 1767, when he purchased a farm at
        that place. He was a Presbyterian. He served in the Rev. War, with his pastor,
        Rev. John Craighead, and was in the battles of Princeton and Monmouth. served
        as a private in Capt. James McConnell's co, Cumberland Co., PA militia in
        1776-1780 under Col. Joseph Armstrong. (PA Archives, 5th series, Vol. 6, pg
        317-8). In 1784 he removed to Washington, Washington Co, PA where in July of
        that year he purchased the farm of Peter Jolly, called in the sruvey "Beaver
        Dam". This farm is situated in Franklin Twsp, 3 1/2 miles w of Washington and
        is still in the possession of the Stockton Family. He m. 22 DEC 1761, Mary
        Mckemie. She was born 25 MAY 1738; d. 26 MAY 1818. She was related to Rev.
        Francis Makemie, the pioneer Presbyterian minister in America."

    CLIFF NEILSON, 3703 MOSS BROOKE CT., FAIRFAX, VA 22031; research shows him as
    a pew holder in the Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church during John Craighead's
    ministry. Also shown as pew holders, Thomas Stockton, his father,, William
    Waddell, husb. of his sister, Elizabeth, John Nelson, husb of sister, Isabella
    His only documented record in York Co in the 1762 roll for Menallen Twsp and
    thereafter until 1780. He had a 152 acre, 16 perch and allowances land parcel
    surveyed, #3656, in Letterkenny Twsp, on 9 MAY 1767. 1776 he witnessed a will
    of an adjoining land owner, James Jordan (probably the 1st husband of his
    sister, Mary Stockton).  Granted a Letter of Adm. for the estate of his
    brother, George Stockton of Letterkenny Twsp on 20 OCT 1777.  Served active
    militia duty with Capt. James McConnell's Co., 5th Batt, Cumberland Co on 8 DEC
    1776. His brother, George and Nephew Thomas Nelson were on the same roster. He
    is shown again on active duty JUL 1777, 5th Co, 6th Batt. 30 AUG 1780, appeared
    as Private in 3rd Co, 4th Batt, Cumberland Co. Militia.
         On 3 OCT 1785, he received a warrant for land in Franklin Twsp, Washington
    Co, described as close to the boundary with Buffalo Twsp. Surveyed in OCT 1785,
    Patented 13 NOV 1786.  on the 1790 and 1800 census, but not found on 1810 and
    1820.

    is on a single flat (3' x 5') sandstone that rests over both graves.  'Here
    reposes the remains of Robert Stockton who departed this life June the 3rd 1821
    in the 84th years of his age.  In memory of Mary Stockton  Consort of Robert
    Stockton  who departed this life May the 26 1818 in the 80th year of her age.

        Ross Co., OH in 1808 (His estate was not settled until 1827 when the
        administrator, Thomas Stockton, paid the estate of Gen. Nathaniel Massie in
        full for land belonging to John's estate) John married Mary Withrow
        (c1760-c1808 Ross Co) in PA.  John witnessed sale of land in Menallen Twsp by
        his father, Thomas, to his brother, David, 28 APR 1777.  In 1778, John was
        captain of 6th company in 4th Battalion, York Co., militia, and was a resident
        of Menallen Twsp 1779-1783.  In 1794 John was listed as being a freeman in the
        Courthouse records at Chambersburg, PA.  According to his father's will, John
        was to receive the note his father had granted his brother, Thomas [aegjpw]
