About the year 1806 Andrew and James Griffin, Adam and Andrew Mickle came from Schodack, the two former as school teachers. Andrew at last settled west of the "Corners" and commenced keeping tavern in 1809, where his son now resides. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyschoha/chap19.html

My maiden name is Stickles and I am researching that line. My Stickles (Stickel) were in Summit, Schoharie Co. in the 1850 census. I have also found the following information.
Names of Citizens
Who Assisted and Contributed Toward the Publication of the History of Schoharie
County, With Personal Statistics.
SUMMIT
Stickles Elan N., p o Summit, farmer, 101 acres, born in Columbia county August 19, 1804, settled in county in 1810; wife Hannah Mickle, of Fulton, married January 15, 1856. Parents, Nicholas F. and Debora (Dean) Stickles, the former of whom was a son of Nicholas, a resident of this county, and lived to be ninety-six years of age.
It appears one of my Stickles was married to a Hannah Mickle and Im wondering if that is possibly one of the Mickles that you are researching. Id love to hear back from you.
Thanks.

When Henry Guffindied in1888, he had survived all his brothers and sisters except his brother Josiahin Iowa. When his estate was settled, his heirs were his nieces and nephews or theirchildren.Since his nephew, Thomas Whitfield Markel, was already deceased, it simplylistedthe living children of Thomas Whitfield which included Emma March and SarahAldrich. That estate record is the documentary proof we needed to show yourconnection.Andrew G. They were Charles Mickel and Weston G. Mickel. WestonG. Mickelwas Sergeant of Colors for the 134 NY Infantry Regiment in the Civil War.He wasat

She was born in Dutchess Co., NYto a Revolutionary War veteran and his wife, moved to Renssalaer Co., NYa little later and then to Schoharie where she lived out her marriedlifeuntil her death in 1837. She was the second of 14 children born to herparents and she had a number of brothers, neices and nephews, who livedin Schoharie. Please get in touch with me if you are interested in pursuing moreon this family.Thanks,R. Hello Laurie,
Andrew G. Mickel, my gggf, according to my records would be Thomas Whitfield Mickel's older brother. Andrew G has been difficult for me to find any death dates or other info on. I believe he died shortly after the birth of his son Weston G. Mickel in Dec. 1843. I show nothing of his wife Hannah Werthe Mickel fate then either. I do know that Weston and his older brother Charles Lovel Mickel were basically raised by their Uncle Adam Mickel and Aunt Mary Woodworth Mickel, another of Thomas Whitfield Mickel's brothers. Henry Guffin that you mentioned lived with Adam and Mary in Carlisle NY.
I'll try to get some copies made of some of my stuff and send it to you if you'll give me your mailing address. When my scanner decides to operate again I'll try to speed up the process.
I myself grew up in Carlisle, NY, where some descendants still remain. I lived there for28 yrs , having moved to Kissimee, Fl 25 years ago.
Try this for Cindy Leonhardt,cleonhardt@bresnan.net. Hope to hear from you soon. Keith

from Schoharie genweb: MICKEL/MICKLE - I am wondering if anyone has information on Andrew Mickel or Mickle, from Cobleskill. He was born 11/18/1790 and d. 3/25/1888 and his wife's name was Margaret, b. 1/4/1826 and d. 3/14/1890. I am looking for information about their children or, if he had remarried, information resulting from that marriage. Jennifer and Andy Mickel - posted 01-02

R. L. Guffin email excerpt: As you likely noticed, Henry Guffin never married and lived with Adam H. Mickel, older brother of Thomas Whitfield Mickel. Another of their brothers was AndrewG. Mickel and we think that was Andrew Guffin Mickel. When Henry Guffin died in1888, he had survived all his brothers and sisters except his brother Josiah in Iowa. When his estate was settled, his heirs were his nieces and nephews or their children.Since his nephew, Thomas Whitfield Markel, was already deceased, it simply listedthe living children of Thomas Whitfield which included Emma March and Sarah Aldrich. That estate record is the documentary proof we needed to show your connection.Andrew G. Mickel, older brother of your Thomas Whitfield Mickel, was married toHannah Werthe/Werth/Worth. They had two known sons who also appeared on Henry Guffin'sestate settlement. They were Charles Mickel and Weston G. Mickel. Weston G. Mickelwas Sergeant of Colors for the 134 NY Infantry Regiment in the Civil War. He wasat Gettysburg and later with Sherman on his March to the Sea. He later carried thecolors of the regiment at the Grand Review in Washington, DC. He died in SchoharieCo., NY on November 13, 1930.
