Veterinary surgeon in Campbell's Cross, Canada. Came to Kentucky in 1875 to see Shorthorn bull, "Eighth Duke of Geneva," which had been bought in England for $8,000, gold. Thought country so beautiful and like England and presenting opportunity for his three sons, that he decided to re-locate in Kentucky.
