Francis or Franz WHELCHEL
Government records show that Davis Whelchel, his three brothers, and father served throughout the Revolutionary War. One brother, John, and probably all, participated in the final stand at the Battle of Cowpens. This battle was fought twenty nine miles from their homes on the bank of Broad River(S.C.?). He also fought in the Battles of Kings Mountain and Blackstock.** It is believed that Davis and Nancy had either 11 or 12 children. I have 10 names.**
