Research of Merlene Lewis: (Found in the Samuel Freckleton tree on Ancestry.com)(Research):For many years, family researchers have been trying to locate records of David's father and have been unable to do so. Family group sheets have listed his father as David but nothing has been located to verify this assumption. While I was researching through Ethel May Frisby Decker's (1902-1966) research notes (in the possession of Tanya May Frisby), a family group sheet was found that listed David's father as David but with a question mark. It is my belief that over the years this speculation has been erroneously passed down through the generations as fact. With the advent of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint's Family Search Web site, it has been possible to search through the Church of England Parish Records for all of the David Frisbys that have been extracted in England. A David Frisby was located. He was christened in 1885, which would have made him a little over 21 years old at the time of his marriage if he was the David that married Jane Wilkes in 1806. This David was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire, not Wolverhampton, Staffordshire as has been listed, and his father was Thomas not David. While researching the Church of England's Bishop's Transcripts for Appleby Magna, Leicestershire for David and Jane Wilke's marriage record, I also looked through the film for any record of his birth or his father David's birth. The only record I found was for his marriage. I was baffled why David and Jane Wilkes would be married in a small village in Leicestershire, so I copied all of the Frisby records for Appleby Magna believing there was a connection somewhere. I found a Thomas that was christened in 1752, which would make him the right age to be David's father. This would explain why David would go to Appleby Magna to be married. That was where his father was born and I am sure there were other family members still living there.Birmingham, Warwickshire, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, Appleby Magna, Leicestershire and Stratford-Upon-Avon are all within less that 40 miles of each other. No where in England is any place more than a 100 miles away from the ocean. A very sophisticated canal system was developed early in the history of England, which was used for transporting people and goods throughout England, making the population very mobile. Leciestershire was agricultural, and it is my opinion that many would move to Wolverhampton, Birmingham and surrounding areas in order to find work. After examining all the evidence, I have come to the conclusion that David Frisby, husband of Jane and father of William is the son of Thomas and Mary Frisby and was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England in 1785
