NOTES: 1. According to tradition Matthew was of Huguenot decent, but all traces of his father and mother have been lost. 2. At his death, the Village bell tolled 99 times. 3. Served in Capt. Francis Ward's Company of Militia from Dutchess Co., New York; commander by Col. James Vanderbergh in 1778. 4. Listed as Private in the 5th Regiment. 5. Mathew was involved in a hunting accident in 1792 and lost his left arm as a result. James Dearing was the cause of the accident and claimed the gun went off accidentally. 6. All of Matthew and Anne's children with the exception of Isaac migrated to the Endless Mountains area of Northeastern Pennsylvania between 1801 and 1809.
NOTES: Anne was a Quaker
He married Anne Mosher 1766 at Pawling, Dutchess, New York . Anne Mosher was born at Dartmouth, Bristol, Massachusetts 25 Aug 1745 daughter of William Mosher and Margaret Wood .
