Buried in Lot 1D 35. Mrs. Stratton has a book about this line. Ancestors and Descendants of Robert Harris, Sr. He came with his parents to Harrisburg, NC in 1765 and at the death of his father succeeded him in possession of the plantation on Footy Creek. An 1815 letter to his niece Jenny - he gave his return address as Wm. Harris, N.C. Cabarrus County, Concord Post Office: ...Have not had any personal acquaintance with any of my friends in PA, being only ten years of age when my father left that country. He came to N.C. in the year 65. The family was compsed of himself, Mother, Brother Robert, sister Mary andMyself. 5 in all. He settled on a small spot of land, unimproved, and lived to an advanced age, and went to his grave in peace in the 87th year of his age. Mother died some months after, aged 77 years... I was the last and youngest child of the family, and succeeded my father in the plantation. I had married in my 23 year. My wife was in her 17th and in 10 months after she bore me a son, and in two months after she died. I was providentially provided for, in the nursing and raising the child... I lived for six years in a widowed state, marrieda second wife twenty years of age. She has had eleven children, the first was a daughter, and died at 17 days old. The second was a so and died at 14 years old. The thirda son, married four years ago, much to my satisfaction. An 1821 letter to Margaret's daughter Jenny (McElvey) Reed from her Uncle William Harris, in N.C., referred to Jenny's aged father: "On the 13th of last March, my fourth and youngest daughter, Ann, was married to a young man of the name of Elias Snell soldier under your father as an acting Colonel in the Militia Service in the Revolutionary War of 76." It is not known if the McAlvey's fort in that area in PA was named for this family.
