J. Meredith Robeson, 92, died Friday, July 21, 2006 at Chesapeake General Hospital. Born in Millwood, Va., he was the son of the late John Maxwell and Elenora Meredith Robeson and was the widower of Anne Walters Robeson. Mr. Robeson was a public school teacher having taught for 32 years in Prince Edward County, Va. andCumberland County, Va. and retired as assistant superintendent of the Cumberland County School System. He graduated high school in Lynchburg, Va. and obtained a bachelor's and master's degree from Syracuse University. He was a member of St. Andrews By-the-Sea Episcopal Church. Mr. Robeson is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Bonnar and husband, James of Gloucester Point, Va.; a son, Jack M. Robeson and wife, Sharon of Mechanicsville, Va.; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, July 30, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrews By-the-Sea Episcopal Church by the Rev. Charles E.B. Gill.
