Col. George Steuart and his wife Margaret Harris, pg 396-397
Notes:
Purchased a large part of a tract of 300 acres with his brother Charles. In 1770, Stewart Rowan made a deed of land in Donegal, which had been received from the Bayleys, to Carper Singhaus. in 1779 Stewart Rowan was paid money in the settlement of the estate of John Allison, Esq, his wife's stepfather, while the same settlement he also represented his brother-in-law, George Steuart, an anntorney-in-fact. In 1770 and 1771 his name appears on the assessment rolls of Carlisle, being taxed for one lot, one negro, and other property. On Mar 25, 1776, we find Stewart Rowan enrolled as a private in Captain Sherer'sCompany. From this data, it is inferred that after the sale of his property near Mt. Joy,he went to Carlisle, but subsequently returned to Lancaster County where he died - perhaps in the Army. Records show that he died intestate in 1777. James Andreson, his wife's uncle was appointed administrator and filed his account and had it approved on June 9, 1785, but no children are mentioned. Dr. G.W. Archer says that he had a numerous family however. The following children are mentioned in public record. These may be his children, or the children of his brother Charles.
Notes:
Could also be Stewart. Born before 30 Oct 1749, and maybe as early as 1738. Her mother and her uncle, James Anderson were appointed her guardians in her father's will.

Notes:
He died aged 60, so I guessed at the birthdate. Wounded in the right knee and left leg in the military, and was discharged n 1783. Was probably the same John Rowan who enlisted in Captain Rob McCallen's Company of Colonel Galbraith's regiment of militia.
