Thomas escaped to Nova Scotia after the American Revolution. He and his brother, Obadiah, received farm land grants and lots in the new city of St. John thus becoming pioneers of the new province of New Brunswick. He married there and had 13 children. A grandson, Thomas H. Griffin became president of an Electric Light Company in Amherst, Nova Scotia in 1891 - Notes from Margaret Turner
