Harry Zick - Daily News (Huntingdon, PA) 14 Jul 1942 Saxton Man alls off Engine, Dies Coroner's inquest being held this afternoon on cause of death Harry C. Zick, of Saxton, a former resident of Huntingdon, an engineman on the Huntingdon and Broad Top Railroad, fell from the locomotive late yesterday afternoon while on the run between Saxton and Cove Station and died as he was being removed a short time later from the office of Dr. W.F. Vogel, in Saxton, to an ambulance waiting to bring him to the Blair Memorial Hospital at Huntingdon. His death occured at 6:30. Zick, an engineer and fireman on the Broad top for many years, in some manner, as uet undetermined fell from the engine onto the railroad tracks during his run. He was picked up immediately and taken to the nearby highway where a passing motorist was hailed to take him to the doctor's office. Dr. W. F. Vogel, after making a preliminary examination, ordered his removal to the hospital and it was while he was being taken from the office that he died. A coroner's inquest will be held in Saxton this afternoon to determine the true facts in the case. Harry Zick was born in Saxton on May 14, 1884. At the time of his death he was aged 55 years one month and 29 days. He was married to Lizzie McHenry Garner, who preceeded him in death. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Zelda Itinger, of Saxton; Mrs. Martha Price of McConnellstown; and William Garner of Harrisburg. Also surviving are one brother, James Zick of Saxton; a half brother, Scott Bookwalter of Pittsburgh, and a sister, Mrs. Paul Hamilton, of Coalmont. Mr. Zick was of the Reformed faith. he had been employed by the Huntingdon and Broad Top Railroad Company for the greater part of his life and was known to the company as a trusted and dependable employee. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Funeral services will be held in the Robert E. Huff funeral chape on Thursday. Burial will be made in the WHite Church cemetery in Hesston.
