                   1900 - He was a blacksmith helper. He was living with his parents. Single .

1904 - Mrs. James Graff was going to Newark to join her husband and make her future home.
1904  Dec- Mr . James Graff of Newark went back to Mt. Vernon to visit his parents.
1905 - Newark, a party where Mrs. Seavolt from Mt. Vernon and Mr. & Mrs. James Graff (looks like from Newark) were present.
1906 - Mrs. James Graff of Dewwy Ave (Newark), returned from Mt. Vernon where they visited Mrs. Graff's mother during the holidays.
1906 - Mrs. James Graff was called to Mt. Vernon on account of the sicknes of her mother, Mrs. J. Seavolt, who is threatened with appendicitis.
1908 - Mrs. James Graff and Mrs. Fred Kelly of Mt. Vernon have rerturned home after a short visit in Newark. LOOKS LIKE THEY MAY HAVE MOVED BACK TO MT. VERNON.
1909- 1910: Lived @ 12 E. Chestnut, Mt. Vernon. Emma was there. He was a machinist.
1910 Census Miracode Index :   James A Graff, Emma his wife was with him.  In Mt. Vernon.
1912- 1913: Lived @ 103 1/2 High st. Mt. Vernon. Emma was there, he was a machinist.
1914 - living on Mulberry with Emma. He was a machinist.
1910 census - Mt. Vernon, married 9 years. No children. He was a machinist in an engine factory.
1917 - James and Emma lived in Mt. Vernon on Mulberry. He was a machinist.
1918 - lived on Mulberry in Mt. Vernon
1920 - Got the H. for the middle name. He was a machinist.  Mt. Vernon.
1930 - James H. living in Mt. Vernon, Knox, Ohio, with his wife.  They had no children at that time.  They had been married for a year. He was a machinist in an engine factory.
Feb 12, 1930 - a James H. Graff, 57, died after an extended illness. He was a Spanish-American war veteran. his wife survives.

Mt. Vernon OH. Miller & O'Bryan Funeral Home  Records:
Lived at 3 N. Mulberry. Died at home. He was married, wife's name was Emma.  He was a machinist. Vol 28 - 33, Month 5, Year no. 21.
Has sister as Mrs. Hazel Fisher of Shelby, Ind. ; brother as Mr. George Graff of Mt. Vernon.
Emma paid the bill.

The grave states that he was 56, and that he was in the Spanish American War.
Book at the Knox Historical Society stated that he was a Sargeant in the 4th OH volunteer army infantry. Mustered into service Apr 1898, campaigned in Puerto Rico. 8 months of active duty. Trained in Columbus, and Chatanooga TN.
August 1st landed in Puerto Rico. Garrison duty and captured the town of Guillemo.

Pension records from the war state that the widow is Graff, Emma S. no minors.
Looks like 1901 or 1908 he was an invalid.

1930 census - not there. Looks like James H. was remarried.
