After WW I, he went to Oregon and entered the lumber business withhis
maternal uncle, and took post-graduate work in lumbering at Oregon State
College.  In 1921, he became a salesman with Brown and Bigelow
AdvertisingSpecialties.   In 1927, he was appointed District Sales Mgr.
in Kansas City,MO. In 1935, he became Kansas State Mgr of the Central
Life Assurance Society at Wichita, KS.
In 1939, he went into business for himself in Wichita, KS, under the name
Southwest Stoker and Engineering Co, as the Kansas State distributor for
Iron Fireman Automatic Coal Burners and for Chrysler Airtemp Heating and
