REFN: 7423 Dr. Peter Fahnestock practiced in Chambersburg, PA from 1825-1837. Removing to Pittsburgh in the latter year. 1821 1821 REFN: 7505 The firm of Chauncey, Brooks, and Co., became Fahnestock, Thrasher,and Co. In 1870, Derick founded the firm of D. Fahnestock and Co, a banking and brokerage house. In 1877, his two sons became partners, and they continued the business after his death. Derick was a Director and Vice Presidentof the Western National Bank, and Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the Savings Bank of Baltimore. From 1888 until his death in 1903, hewas President of the Baltimore Stock Exchange. At that time, he was the oldest stock broker engaged in business in Baltimore. He was a dependable man,with an even disposition and poise. He was a strong Union man during the Civil War.
