Thomas WILSON
FamilySearch.org/FamilyTree, May 2015
Executor - Joseph Jefferies, his wife's new husband. I have a letter (in my files) that talks about him. He was a Presbyterian, and some of his family is reportedly named in Rev. John Cuthbertson's accounts. He is always reported to be from Paradise. The historian at Adams County Historical Society stated that he was granted a licence as an innkeeper in 1751, later he is recommended for a licence in Paradise. He was listed as an innkeeper/tavern-keeper in many deeds. He was reportedly succeeded by his son Joseph. He owned quite a bit of land, as noted in the Orphans Court documents. I don't know where I got a birthday of abt 1720. I took it off. Sarah was named executrix on his will on 25 Apr 1768. But this could be another Wilson, but the names are the same. That is in Book B, p. 153. No township is mentioned. 1760 - had an application for continuance of his tavern. 26 Mar 1778. The heirs of Thomas WIlson, deceased, of Paradise Twp., petition to have their father's property appraised.
In Thomas, the son's will the death is extrapolated as 1770. I had a birthdate of abt 1720, but I took it off.
The orphans court record It stated that he was the oldest son, and that he grew to full age, and that he was unmarried and without lawful issue. Birthdate extrapolated by will dates.
Name obtained from Physician's Return of Death for Tempest Wilson. Later verified through multiple sources. I had a birthdate of 1742 and death of 1798, but this may have been for the people we thought were the parents of Tempest. There was a Joseph Wilson who owned an inn in Paradise in 1783. (History of York, pg 685.) This Joseph was probably the son of Thomas, as per a researcher at the York Historical Society. Copy in files. In 1781 he was noted to have been from Paradise twp, and that he was a tavernkeeper. He sold some of his land to Tempest Tucker, his brother - in -law. Then he named his son after him later in the same year. He was listed as a yeomen at times in court documents and also as an Innkeeper. 1783: Tax survey of his household shows him as an innkeeper in Paradise. (MSR1f50) There was: 170 acres of land 4 inhabitants (who was the 4th inhabitant???) 1 home 1 outhouse 2 cattle 3 horses 10 sheep 1788 he was still in Paradise. See the court records. Birthdate extrapolated by will dates. 1783 - he bought land in Mt. Joy 1795 - he had land in Mt. Pleasant.
She was named as Legate on a will proved for her brother William on 28 Sep 1791. I got her birthdate from Ancestry.com, Kathy Nelsen. I got the death date from One World tree. It had no name, but it had the birthdate that I had, and it was after she was named in her brother's will. Lived in Berwick Township, Adams County, in 1812. I saw the cemetery record.
Mentioned in the Orphans Court documents. She was already married to William White (1777) at that time. In a will of a William White (I think that would be this William's father), A George White has sons named Tempest, Joseph and George. Possibly a good match This was in Paradise Township also. York County, Pennsylvania Wills, 1749-1819 about Tempest White Name: Tempest White Description: Granddaughter Date: 7 May 1789 Prove Date: 18 May 1789 Remarks: White, George. May 7, 1789. Grandchildren: Thomas and George White, sons of Thomas, Tempest, Joseph and George White, children of William, Sarah and Hannah White, daughters of George, and George, Emas, David, Elizabeth, Hannah and Mary Powell.
She was a minor at the time of the Orphans Court. Birthdate extrapolated by will dates. 1779 - Sarah (over 16 years) chose Joseph Jeffries as her guardian.
He is mentioned in the Orphans Court Records last, I am assuming that he is the youngest child. 1778 - William (aged 12) chose Tempest Tucker as his guardian. 30 Nov 1779 -In his brother Thomas' will he was listed as 21(maybe at least) which would have out his birthdate at 1758. Birthdate extrapolated by will dates. Will: Written 9/20/1791 Probated 11/28/1792, executor Tempest Tucker.
