Stephen de Segrave, the companion in arms of his gallant father in theScottish wars, but in the 12th Edward II [1319], one of the partisans ofThomas, Earl of Lancaster. Submitting himself, however, he obtained hispardon, and 16th Edward II, was made constable of the Tower of London. Inthe 18th Edward [1325], he attended his father into Gascony and d. therev. p. John de Segrave, 3rd baron, summoned to parliament from 29 November,1336, to 15 November, 1351. This nobleman appears, like his predecessors,a distinguished personage in the field during his short career, for hedid not live beyond the age of thirty-eight. In the wars of France andScotland, temp. Edward III, he took an active part and was more than onceretained to serve the king by indenture. His lordship made an illustriousalliance in marrying the Lady Margaret Plantagenet, dau., and eventuallysole heiress, of Thomas de Brotherton, Earl of Norfolk, Marshal ofEngland, younger son of King Edward I; by this lady he left, at hisdecease in 1353, an only dau. and heiress, Elizabeth.
