(Source: County of Anson North Carolina: Pub. 1995 by Don Mills, Inc. and the Anson County Heritage Book Committee, p 248, and Janeva Bailey.) Janeva: "... in the Parish of Farnham of Rappahannock County, Virginia, in the late 1600's and early 1700's, John Meadors (1659-1721) was a good citizen and family man. It is here he spent his days raising a new family, tending his tobacco crop, serving on juries, and doing other tasks as required by the Administrator of the Colony." Marilyn Ramey < JRamey711@aol.com> writing to the Meador rootsweb site, 18 Dec 1999, notes: "John Meador ca 1658-59 died aft Oct 17,1721 First wife unknown Second wife Elizabeth White" But, see Jean Suddarth, 18 Dec 99 on the Meador rootsweb page, who notes, citing her own work and that of Victor Meador: "No one knows who the second wife of John Meador was.... The Aubrey connection is actually through Sarah, John's mother. Henry Awbrey was her second husband. This is pretty well substantiated through the will of Richard Awbrey, son of Sarah and Henry. It is dated Apr 18, 1697, Old Rappahannock, a short description of the pertinent parts should help: In it, he leaves Elizabeth Evans, his God daughter a heiffer. To my brother, John Meador, all my wearing cloaths that's made up, My sister Maguire a ring of twelve shillings price, Phillip Maguire as much mixt kersey now in the house as will make him a coate...... Victor Meador says John Meador's father was Thomas Meades, son of Thomas Meades who died in 1656 in Lancaster Co. (Virginia). I personally have my doubts but it's up to you to decide for yourselves. He does go into the Ambrose Meador line in the book, but as he states, they lived less than two miles apart and there is considerable participation of Ambrose in Thomas' affairs but nothing which points to what, if any, relationship there was. Elizabeth White 1st wife of John Meador was the daughter of Richard White and Addra. They had a son but he was killed by Indians. On Feb 4, 1677/78 Richard White deeds his plantation and personal and real property to John Meador. By that time, Richard White has remarried; his second wife was Mary...."
