John George STEVENS
stationed in Halifax 1780-1783. Remained either legally or by desertion in N.S., the first known date of his presence in Oct. 1785 when he was a sponser at baptism of John George Jolimony at St. John's Anglican, Lunenburg. In 1807 George purchased the entire 140 acres of Little Tancook for 140 pounds from Christian Graves, where he lived for the next 20 yrs.
Drowned in a storm with 3 of his sons. Boat capsized. Bodies never found.
He married Anna Catherine Barbara Cross 25 May 1802 at Lunenburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada . Anna Catherine Barbara Cross was christened at Lunenburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada 15 Oct 1775 daughter of Conrad Cross and Eva Elizabeth Catherine Sponagel .
