BIRTH:Missouri State Birth Certificate, no. 388729 MARRIAGE:Marriage Certificate, no. 3118 When Effie Ellen Nettles Edgmond Altman's funeral was held 13 Feb. 1971 she could not be buried that day as the roads to the Pleasantview Cemetery were flooded, therefore she was buried six days later when the roads were passable. (Told to Louise Christina Glantz England by Mary Ellen Edgmond England) Obituary: Mrs. Effie Edgmond Altman, 82, wife of Adolph Altman, 931 Cook Ave., died Saturday at St. Vincent's Hospital after an extended illness. She was born March 27, 1888, in Cedar Grove, Mo., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Granville Nettles. She was raised in Missouri and married there. She moved to the Ballantine area in 1910. In 1934 she moved to Billings. She was married to Adolph Altman April 2, 1949, in Columbus. They made their home in Billings where Mrs. Altman was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday from Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary with the Rev. Paul Frieburger, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasantville Cemetery, Ballantine. Survivors include the widower; two sons, G.J. Edgmond, Helena, and W.J. Edgmond, Bridger; five daughters, Mrs. Mary England, 923 Cook Ave., Mrs. Ben Burkart, 1245 Landscape Drive, Mrs. Alfred Weinzetl, 1742 Columbine Drive, Mrs. Don Summerfelt, Helena, and Mrs. Art Fossum, Clyde Park; one sister, Mrs. John Edgmond, Neoshoe, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

BIRTH-MARRIAGE:Discussion with EDGMOND family members. Obituary: William J. Edgmond, 67, of Bridger, passed away Saturday, May 14, 1994, at Aspen Meadows Retirement Home in Billings. Bill was born Jan. 25, 1927, at Ballantine, a son of Effie and William Edgmond. He attended Ballantine and Oneida schools and served in the U.S. Signal Corps during World War II and was in the South Pacific. Bill married Charlene Gass on June 2, 1951, and they had two sons, William Jay and James Gerald. He worked for the telephone company for 37 years, retiring in 1982. After retirement, he drove the Bridger school bus as an extra driver. He belonged to the Ashlar Lodge No 29 AF & AM, Cornelius Hedges Chapter No. 43, O.E.S., Bridger Methodist Church, Bridger Senior Citizens, Bridger VFW, Beartooth Lodge BPOE of Red Lodge, Telephone Pioneers and served with the Bridger Volunteer Ambulance for six years. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; one son, James G. and daughter-in-law, Cindy of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren, William, Laura, and Adam; sisters, Laura Burkart of Billings, Eva Pearson of Worden, Rose Fossum of Clyde Park, and Alice Burkart of Canyon Ferry; and a brother, Granville Edgmond of Modesto, Calif. He was proceeded in death by a son, William Jay; his parents; and one sister, Mary. Memorials in lieu of flowers to Big Sky Hospice, 1041 N. 29th St., Billings 59101, Bridger Methodist Church or the charity of choice. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 1994, at the Bridger Methodist Church. Smith-Cashmore Memorial Chapel of Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
