                   NOTE:
"Thomas a native of Scotland. Came to the U.S, as a boy of 12, with a relative. Stopped in the state of New York where he grew to manhood and "married". His wife dying, he returned to Scotland; then came again to America and located in the state of New Jersey, where he "remarried". In 1839 he came to Indiana, locating in Clay Co., entering land in Jackson Twp. For some years after coming "here", he taught school. His 2nd wife dying, he married the 3rd time. In 1852 he was elected county recorder, and was re-elected in 1856, and died on the 16th day of September, 1860, within less than 2 months of the expiration of his 2nd term of service. Son Job, was appointed to fill out the term."
