Simon ADAMSON, JR

Birth:

Marriage:
1789
Randolph, North Carolina
Notes:
Simon Adamson Jr. and his family had land in Know county, Tennessee in the early 1800's. They went to the Lost Creek Quaker church in Jefferson county at New Market, Tennessee. Other Adamson's lived in this area. When you realize that the land west of the Allegany Mountain was reserved for the Indians by the Proclamation of 1763, it is seen that the Adamson families being in eastern Tennessee in the late 1700's made them very early settlers.

The list of descendents was made up based upon
1. Simon Adamson's will
2. A tennessee Deed of coveyance dated 1839
3. Census Records
4. Marriage records
5. Deth Records 1903 to present
6. Deed and probate records
7. Bible records
8. Tombstone inscriptions
9. biographical sketches and other material in books
10. Personal knowledge of various ones

Simon Adamson is thought to be buired at Rocky Valley Cemetery, Jefferson county, Tennessee. We do not know where Eleanor Adamson is buried, but feel that it is in Collin county, Texas. the 1860 Collin county census show "Ellender" Adamson age 91, in Tennessee, Nancy Wilson age 21 born in Tennessee, John Wilson, age 28 born in North carolina, and Harrison Mills, age 19, born in Tennessee. Jacob Wilson was Eleanor's Grandson (#2-12 on our list) Youngest son of Israel and Martha Wilson. We do not find any records showing John as a brother of Jacob. Nancy Wilson was Jacob's wife, and Harrison Mills was Nancy's Brother. Harrison died in Confederate service during the Civil war.

One source of information shows that Eleanor died at Weston Texas in 1863 at age 93, .

On the plat of the Chambersville cemetery in Collin county which was drawn in 1955 byn the son of the man who kept the cemetary records, there are around a dozen unmarked graves shown in the vicinity of the Adamsons and the Wilson's . Some are immediateyly in front of Larkin (1806) and Nancy Adamson and esther Adamson Wilson, and some are imediately in back of them. I think these contain adamson family members whose graves we have not been able to locate possibley including Eleanor.

Thought to be buried at Rocky Valley Cemetery, Jefferson country Tennesee

Notes:
the town of Jacksonville, Missouri, was the second town in Platte county. It was named by Jacob Adamson, who was one of five trusetees of incorporation. Joacob was from Tennessee and an admirier of general Jackson and insisted that the town be named Jacksonville in honor of the general. But when a post office was about to be established, it was found out that there already was a jacksonville post office in Missouri. therefore, they had to change the name and changed it to New market. It waould be a good guess that Jacob named it after newe market Tennessee, where the adamsons lived before they moved to Missouri.

During the California gold rush, Jacob Adamson and his son-in-law, William Borden, decided to go to California to get rich. They left in a covered wagon and it took them three months to make the trip. They were in California two years and like many others, didn't find their fortune. They stated back home on a sailing boat with about 200 other men and their provisions. the captain of the vessel became drunk on the trip back, and the ship was carried off in a calm to south america. They were on the water 74 days without seeing land. they had eathen all their food, and the only thng they could do was to eat the mules and hard tack to stay alive. after these were gone, they talked of casting lots and eating one of the men. William boren told them he would shoot it out with them before he would be eaten. finally a little breeze came up and they were able to sail the ship to land, saving themselves from starvation or from canibalism.

Notes:
Levi L. adamson was the eleventh of twelve children born to Simon adamson Jr. and Eleanor routh adamson. the records indicate all of their children were born in tennessee some in jefferson county some in cannon county the exact location for some is unknown.

Levi born in 1810 moved probably with the rest of the simon adamson jr. family to ray county missouri some time before 1836. It was on april 28, 1836 that Levi and mary ann benton were married in ray county missouri. Mary was born in 1817 in tennessee.

Levi worked as a tailor while living in Weston, platte county missouri and owned property along side his siblings land outside weston.

sometime before 1852, Levi, Mary and their family along with appears to be a large number of the adamson clan. moved to east texas. They settled in the beautiful green rolling hills, north of Dallas in Collin county. It was there where they founded the town of Weston, Texas, named after Weston, Missouri.

there is strong indication, though no proof that Levi is buried in the chambersville cemtary in Weston texas along with his sister Esther adamson wilson and his brother larkin adamson and other family members.
