                   Parish Registor of Standlake, Gloucestershire, England. By correspondence.  Family record sheet in the church archives. Having read the Luke Syphus Temple Book data, I do not think that the above sheet by Alice S. Long Parker is correct as it has 17 children and only nine show on the Luke Syphus Register.  Will have to do more research, some children may have died young.

Luke Syphus Temple Book shows him as a father with his family and their temple dates, Page 27. This hand written by Lovina Syphus Whitney.  Nine children registered.

DEATH/BURIAL: Died before his wife.  Burial date listed in the Standlake, Oxfordshire, England records.  Parish records: Buried 2 Aug. 1803.

Note on children: There are several records from the Standlake Parish records that show children of a George and Elizabeth Long that are slightly different than the Syphus Family Records show.  Sarah Long record shows shw was buried in 1780 and the Syphus reocrd shows shw was born in 1783... so there must have been two Sarah's???
The James Long listed as a son - Syphus records show born 23 May 1768 and then the Standlake parish record has a James, son of George and Elizabeth, buried on 25 Aug., 1769 (may be 1767) this then could not be the James Long married to Sarah Busby unless there was another James Long born to this family that would have died in 1767 and would have been born before James who married Sarah Busby.  Therefore, james who married Sarah Busby would have a different birth date than the Syphus records show.?????
Some of the children in the syphus records have one date, but the parish records show the same day and month, but a different year.

Note: Source is Archive Record submitted by Alice S. Long Parker, Iona, Idaho; this group sheet lists the 2nd child James Long chr 9 Apr 1768 as dying as a child and no baptism and endowment was done.  There seems to be a problems because the James Long on our line was married to Sarah Busby and had 9 chidlren.

Data about his family in the Luke Syphus Temple Book with their dates. This book has him as a child born: 8 May 1768 in Bradington, Oxfordshire, England.  Later, as a husband: born 8 May 1769, Bradington, Oxfordshire, England.

Birth and Death: Standlake, Oxfordshire, England has a James Long born to George and Elizabeth Long on May 23, 1768 he was baptized in Standlake.  His burial date is Aug 25, 1769 in Standlake.  This cannot be the James Long who married Sarah Busby.

Marriage: A James Long married Sarah Busby by license in Standlake Parish, Oxfordshire, Engalnd.  Date is Oct. 11, 1791.  No other data.

Death/Burial: Shifford Parish Records, Oxfordshire, England.  James Long, age 81, buried June 3, 1849 at Shifford.

Believed to be Aug. 25, 1767 as the next sone born in 1768 is named James.

Conflict: On the archive record for James Long's parents, the second child James is listed as being christened on 9 Apr 1768 and dying as a child and buried 25 Aug 1769. No baptism or endowment was done.
