NAME: MORLS aka MOBBS/MARB/MAPPS
MARRIAGE: She filed for divorce, moved to Peoria and had a confectionary store, as told to Franklin A. Jones, by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles (Bess) Jones in 1958. (Ancestry Member Trees) DEATH: Not found on the Kane County, IL Death index under the surname Jones. If truly divorced, may have died in a different county. RESEARCH NOTE: Phebe appears to be one of three orphan girls with the surname Thayer in Claridon, Geauga County, OH in 1850, although a family bible in possession of John Thomas (posted on Genforum) lists them as daughters of Emery Thayer and Louisa Mobbs. This family was not located on the 1850 census under these names, and it is unclear why such young daughters were out with other families. Emery died in 1851. The information from the family bible will be used. RESEARCH NOTE: Theory of orphaned girls possibly resolved - family bible found which lists these three girls as children of Emery Thayer and Lydia Mobbs. The old research notes follow: No possible parents could be located in the 1840 Census in Geauga County. In 1850, three (presumably) orphaned Thayer girls all live with different families in Claridon township, Geauga County, OH. -Mary Thayer, b. 1838 is living with John and Mary Teasdale, who have no other children and are in their 50's and 60's. Mary married Stephen Tucker 27 Jan 1858 in Claridon, OH. She is located on the 1860 census with him. On the 1870 Census she is living in the home of Stephen Tucker, which we suppose is her father in law. She may be widowed, and is not found under the Thayer or Tucker names in 1880 in Geauga County. -P. (Phebe) Thayer, b. 1840 is living with George and Mary Green, also in their 50's and 60's, who do have other children. She marries Thomas Jones in Geauga County in 1855. -Ann Thayer, b. 1836 is living with Herman and Betsey Baldwin in Claridon, Geauga, OH in 1850. In 1860 she is still single, living with Sala and Adelize Newel and working as a "domestic." She is not found any later in Geauga County, and is not located on the marriage or death indexes for Geauga.
