Member's of this family are said to come from Connecticut in an early day, moving to Canada and after a few years, moving to Messenger's Hollow, near Nunda, NY. the name Messenger was from an original family who engaged in logging. The area, known historically as Genesee Co, was established in 1789 as Ontario Co. This was after the famous military campaign of 1779, when General John Sullivan subdued a powerful Iroquis tribe, the Senecas, who had allied themselves with the British. In 1808, the area became part of Allegany Co. NY. Finally, on Feb 23, 1821, the area became part of Livingston Co, NY.An account written by his grandson, Harvey Clayton Parker, states that he was killed by a horse. His last will and testament is dated 10 days before his death. He may have died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
