Lazarus Stewart:
James (5) had brothers William, Lazarus, George, David, John, and Samuel, and they are believed to have been the men of those names found in the early Jackson County tax lists (see above). Lazarus (5) moved to Marengo, Crawford County, Indiana, by 1820 (probably c 1812) and subsequently to Adams County, IL, where he died in the 1830s. He was joined in Indiana by his brother David, who was born Rowan County, July, 1775. He married Anna Sloan, according to a letter written in 1892 by his son, Dr. Lewis B. Stewart of Marengo, and moved to Georgia, where he lived five years (see above, David, James, Samuel, and George in Jackson County, 1801). David moved in 1804 to Kentucky, and in the papers of his purchase of land Aug. 4, 1806 in Barren ? County, KY, there is a reference to his friend Archibald Sloan, who was probably the son of Lt. Archibald Sloan, a Revolutionary soldier from Rowan County, NC. David Stewarts wife Anna Sloan probably was related to Elvira Sloan, daughter of Lt. Archibald; Elvira married William Lewis, born Sep 27, 1787, son of James and Anne (Stewart) Lewis and grandson of John and Hannah (Boone) Stewart.
