Elijah ALLEN
Enlisted in the Mormon Batallion Drover a team for President Brigham Young 'he enlisted in the Mormon Batallion and went throught o California. He served one year in the Government service, and was discharged at Los Angeles on 16 July 1847' 'On his return he came to Nauvoo and called at President Brigham Young's home and asked for counsel. Brother Young told him that he could stop with him and go to work, which he did, and lived with him until the Church moved West. He drove a team for President Young through to Winter Quarters on the Missouri River.' He married Eliza, the sister of the man who had been his constant companion in the Mormon Battalion

He married Eliza Ann Bickmore 3 May 1852 at Silvercreek, Mills, Iowa . Eliza Ann Bickmore was born at Madisonville, Madison, Illinois 29 Jan 1830 .
