    Waddell, who served in the famous "Whiskey Rebellion" 1794, and the War of
    1812. He owned a large tract of land about 3 miles east of Mercersburg and
    built there a large and substantial dwelling."

     "On 18 JAN 1819, the court appointed General Thomas and William Waddell,
     guardians of the minor children, Anna Maria, David, and Jane (over 14)
     Margaretta, William, George, John and Catherine (under 14) of Patrick
     Campbell."  Patrick married Frances Stockton, d/o David, s/o Thomas, s/o
     Robert;  The Waddell's were sons of their mother's aunt, Elizabeth Stockton,
     d/o Thomas, s/o Robert.
pg 154; On 1 FEB 1815, Thomas Waddell and James McCoy were named guardians of
    the minor children Elizabeth and Catherine McKinnie, children of James
    McKinney and Elizabeth Bard. James brother of Walter Mckinney, father of
    Robert Mckinney who m. Thomas Waddell's daughter Elizabeth.

     Thomas Waddell and Catherine Long. Elizabeth was b. 1800 and d. 10 SEP 1855

    McMullen in 1770 and lived in the old home with her father. Rev. John
    Stockton, of Cross Creek, PA visited them in 1825 and preached in their church
    for the Rev. David Elliott, and visited the graves of Thomas Stockton and his
    dau. Elizabeth Waddell." (HAS SON CONFUSED WITH FATHER.)

    Waddell m Alex Gordon, no issue; Rachel d young; William 1811-1836/46 killed
    by lightening, m. Catherine Miller, one son, William was drowned in the
    Mississippi River; Thomas Poe Waddell 1817-young; Caleb Stockton Waddell
    1819-young; Frances Ann 1822- d. unmarried; Margaret m. George E. Smith, no
    issue; and Sarah Jane b. 1827-?
