She was married to John McDougal, a physician and author, on 12 NOV 1799 in Ross Co., OH by Rev. William Speer. John was born on 18 MAY 1777, s/o David and Ann McDougal, in Dumbarton, Scotland, and died in Indianapolis in 1824 [abg] In Feb 1808m John and Nargaret NcDougall sold 150 acres for $234 each to William, David, and George Stockton, Margaret's brothers, part of a 600 acre parcel that was patented in 1803. (Since David Sr had purchased the land that he bequeather to his sons in 1807 from John McDougal, these transactions may have been made to clear any remaining debt. John left his household and kitchen furniture under a levy by the Marshall of OH who then sold them, leaving Margaret and her children in need of items for her immediate care and that of her children. Her marriage, 12 NOV 1799 is the earliest documentation for any Stockton in Ross Co., OH In 1808, John McDougall and wife Margaret sold, in 3 identical $234 transactions, 150 acres each, to William, David and George Stockton from a 600 acres parcel patented in 1803 and adjoining David Stockton; 14 FEB 1808, Ross Co., OH Deed Book 8, pp152, 153 and 171. The parcels were on both sides of Duff Creek to a branch of Dear Creek.
