James and Nancy Virdin moved from South Carolina to Kentucky, and may have spent some time in Missouri, but finally moved to Illinois between 1821 and 1823, where James younger brothers, Levi Virden and William Virden had already settled. Both are buried in the Tolley cemetery in Shelby County, Illiois.
