"John, like his older brother William, was also a Methodist Minister.  John and Jane were listed in the Clackamas County Oregon census of 1860 with their two daughters.  John is listed as a "farmer".  He was the Superintendent of Douglas County Schools between 1881 and 1884.  He was in Marion County, Oregon in 1865."

John Howard - Jane Elizabeth Wingfield
