    In 1779 he resided in Egremont, Berkshire Co., MA. He removed to New York
    state and died in the town of Butternut. She died in Parkersburg, WVA. (no

    "Mrs. Flo North Parkin compiled this genealogy sometime in the 1950's. Later
    in 1983, this editor learned that Mrs. Clayton Merrick, Acting Historian
    General of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, discovered a serious
    error in one line in the book "The History of Treman, Tremaine, Truman"
    published in 1901 by Ebenezer Mack Treman and Murray E. Poole. The error is in
    the lineage shown in this book. Mrs. Parkin used the above history for the
    lineage of Martin Truman.
    THE ERROR: John Truman (m. Elizabeth Sexton) is NOT the son of Joseph Truman
    (m. Mary Shapely).."The New London CT Vital Records" by Barbour show that
    John Truman died 20 MAR 1738/39 without issue and his death is also verified
    in the published "Diary of Joshua Hempstead" on page 351. The Tremaon-Poole
    book actually shows this John Truman as John Tremaine and proceeds with his
    descendants. There is no question about the descendants of John
    Tremaine/Truman and Elizabeth Sexton. However John Tremaine/Truman was NOT the
    son of Joseph and Mary (Shapely) Truman. Therefore, the ancestry of John
    Tremaine/Truman still remains a mystery."
