Joseph NEILSON

                   C.C.NEILSON, 9/90; married Nancy Coleman 18 SEP 1798 in Brooke Co., (W)VA; per
    Wheeling, WVA Gen. Soc., surname search, Joseph is on OH Co., personal
    property tax records in 1787 and 1790, but not in 1785 and 1795. Taxes were
    charged to Richard Worth in 1787.  Ohio Co., Deed Bk 4, pg 219 records Joseph
    purchased 137 acres on Short Creek from John and Isabella Neilson on 30 SEP
    1798, originally purchased by John Neilson in 1795. Adjoining land owners,
    Morgan Van Meter, Daniel Morgan, Van Swearing and Edward Morgan.
This area became Ohio County, VA in 1776, created from the district of W.
    Augusta. In 1861 it became West Virginia.
BROOKE CO., WV WILL BOOK 2, P. 147; Appraisel of estate of Joseph Nelson,
    dec'd, of Adams Co., OH, dated 21 AUG 1820. His name is spelled NELSON 3 times
    and NEILSON twice. The single item appraised was a promisory note from John
    Coleman to Joseph Neilson for a horse.  Since Joseph m. Nancy Coleman, this
    may have been a brother.
