George Stockton was of a roving disposition ; he lived in Indiana during the early years of his life, and spent his time time hunting with the Indians. During the War of 1812 he scouted with Logan, the Mingo chief, whose celebrated speech is quoted in old school readers. The greater part of his mature years he lived at Bainbridge, OH where he died died 16 DEC 1865. Mrs. Stockton d. at the same place 28 JAN 1860. George was born in SEP 1787, and died 16 dec 1865 in Bainbridge, Paxton Twsp, Ross Co., OH, where he had lived in his mature years. He was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH. George had a roving disposition and hunted with the indians. During the War of 1812, he hunted with Logan, the Mingo Chief, whose celebrated speech is quoted in old school readers. He inherited 150 acres of land on Duff's Fork of Deer Creek which his father, David had purchased from John McDougal. George served in the War of 1812 as a Private in Capt. Massie'd Company, Ohio milita. [ag] In Nov 1811, George married Anne Barbara Platter in Ross Co., OH, by Rev. Robert G. Wilson. Barbara was born 5 FEB 1792 in Bainbridge, OH, d/o Christian Platter, died there in JAN 1867, and was buried in Platter Cemetery Ross Co., OH. CLIFF NEILSON, 3703 MOSS BROOKE CT., FAIRFAX, VA 22031; George served in the War of 1812 as Private in Capt. Massie's Co., OH milita; in SEP 1810, George registered his loan of named household goods to his sister, Margaret, because "... her husband John McDougal has eloped from his wife."
