Mungo DOUGLAS

                   RESEARCH NOTE:
Possible parents found for Mungo Douglas on AWT: Hugh Douglas and Janet McTurk.  One problem is that this Mungo Douglas with these parents is listed as being born in Kirkconnel, Dumfries, Scotland - not near New Cummock, Ayr, Scotland where he resided the rest of his life.  Further research is needed before these parents are accepted as correct.   
There is also another possible daughter for Mungo Douglas - Janet McTurk Douglas born 12 Jul 1842 in New Cumnock, Ayr, Scotland.  She has not been accepted as a daughter yet because she is listed with parents Mungo Douglas and Flora MURDOCK instead of Flora MILLER.  There are several possibilities: 1) Murdock is a transribed error and should be Miller.  If this is the case and Janet McTurk Douglas truly is the daughter of our Mungo Douglas and Flora Miller, then this could also prove correct the relationship with Mungo and his possible mother Jant McTurk by naming his daughter after his mother. 2) There is a different Mungo Douglas that married a Flora Murdock and had a daughter Janet McTurk Douglas.  Similarly, this could prove that Janet McTurk is not the mother of our Mungo ancestor, but of a different Mungo Douglas.
