John Owens was born, reared and married in York County, Pa. He moved to Clearfield County in 1802 settling in the woods one mile from Clearfield and clearing a farm. He and his wife both lived to the advanced age of 93. They are buried at Owens Cemetery, near Clearfield (Hillsdale). He was of Welsh descent.
