Letter from Margaret Jeanne (Lynch) Ponton to Lori Eileen (Peters) Lopez dated Jun 2003:

Dear Lori,

Sorry - I don't know birth dates (years) for most of the kids. I know the first 3 were born before we married in '48. Thanks for sending all the info Addresses of Dot's kids: (see original letter). Maybe one of the kids can provide more info about birth dates and their families and their kids' families. Probably one of the girls or all of them would be your best bet They all have grandkids. All the info about mom's (Emma Peters Lynch) background is mind boggeling I knew there was the name Appleton in Grandad's family, but all the rest I never heard of Germany, Britian, France - WOW I knew Grandma had a German background - even spoke a little German - taught me to cout to ten in German and "Garect you shanty bou" meaning "go away you dirty boy" I wonder why she thought I should know that one? She was a sweet person and a good cook - I remember her canning and making sauerkrut in a crock in the celler - she always weighted the cabbage down with an iron or something heavy. I remember helping her iron with an iron heated on the stove and also spent hours rolling carpet rags into balls for use on her loom to make rugs - they were so nice. Grandad Peters used to slip me money and say, "Don't tell Dottie" We kids all used to rolldown the bank in Grandad's yard Such fun Good memories. Sorry to have been so long writing to you. Today I said, "This is the day" - so there is the info I know now. Maybe more will surface later. Did your Aunt Barb send you a list of the Peters' family - 12 kids? I have it somewhere, so can send a copy if you don't have it. I have a computer, but not on line and the ink cartridge is dry Take Care Love, Jeanne

There are a few Rex Peters but none with his known birthdate of 9 Jun 1904.

Birth/Death Dates:
Two notices were found in the Clearfield Progress on 26 May 1973, pg 15 and 27 May 1972, pg 11 - with different death years noted. Rex's brother Theodore's autobiograph noted his birth date as November 20, 1904, but Rex was already 25 by time of the 1930 Census which was conducted in April, so this researcher is leaving the prior date of 9 Jun 1904 as his birth date. They did have a sister, Pansy Irene who was born on 20 Nov, but in 1914, not 1904. Theodore's autobiography noted Rex's death year as 1959.

PETERS: In loving memory of Rex J. Peters who passed away September 28, 1969. Sadly missed by son Jack Peters and family. (This notice indicates death year as 1969, not 1959 as noted in his brother, Theodore's autobiography, in that autobiograph, Rex's birth date is listed as November.)

PETERS: In loving memory of Rex J. Peters who passed away September 28, 1959. Gone dear father, gone forever, away from sorrow, cares and pain, may you rest in peace, dear father, until we meet again. Sadly missed by Jack, Joy and Loy. (This death notice indicates death year as 1959, not 1969, but it is 1959 that is noted in his brother, Theodore's autobiography.)

Notes:
In the brief autobiography he wrote Theodore Roosevelt Peters noted that he had no idea his middle name was Roosevelt because no one ever told him that. As he became an adult, he got tired of the mail getting mixed up with the other Theodore Peters' in town so he just added the middle initial of "J" to stop the confusion. When the family obtained a copy of his birth certificate his name was listed as Theodore Roosevelt Peters.

Also, after the death of his first wife, he married Flossie May Bergendorf Shaken. She had lost her first husband and was working as a clerk at a convenience store where Ted shopped. They married in June 1966 and were together until Ted's death on 14 March 1997. They had moved to Florida in the 1960s where he worked as a self-employed carpet layer for many years until his knees became too arthritic to do the job. They returned to Ohio in the 1990s and spent their last few years together living in Apple Creek, Ohio.

He was interred next to his first wife, Alice, at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daughtery Township, Beaver Co., PA. Flossie passed away a few years later and was interred next to her first husband in Ohio.

Married Flossie May Bergdorf SHAKEN after death of first wife Alice Alfretta LANSBERRY.

WOODLAND - Roy Peters Jr. of Mineral Springs had a very narrow escape last Saturday when he drank from a jug which he supposed contained drinking water but which contained acid which is put in automobile batteries. The accident occurred in Paul Shireys garage but the unfortunate boy was rushed to Dr. Shivery, who administered an emetic and he is evidently none the worst for his experience.

Was notified of George Burton Peters' death on September 26, 2002, by Barbara Peters Jackson, his niece. She advised that Jeanne Lynch Ponton (daughter of Emma Peters Lynch) called to tell her that she had received a call from George's granddaughter who is living in Texas that George was not doing well. Jeanne told Barbara that she visited George every Sunday and the last Sunday she visited before the granddaugther's phone call, George looked fine. She immediately went over to the home and was directed to the hospital. She went to the hospital and spoke with George's children, Phoebe and David. She invited them to stay with her but they refused. She was not able to speak to George as he was comatose. A few days later she read his brief obituary in the paper and that he had been cremated. She called the hotel where Phoebe and David were staying and was told the hotel had no record of them ever staying there. Jeanne said that no one knows how to get in contact with any of George's descendants.

Found his obit at the Tampa Tribune Online - http://www.tampatrib.com
