BIOGRAPHY: From page 259: "He (Jeremiah Prescott) was a farmer. He rendered essential service to his country during the Revolutionary War. He advanced to a Lieutenant in the company commanded by Captain Nathan Sanborn, in Col. Stephen Evans' regiment, in 1777, and subsequently, commanded a company attached to the regiment commanded by Col. Thomas Stickney. After the revolution (war), he settled in Epsom, New Hampshire, where he followed the occupation of a farmer, until his death, and was a colonel in the militia of New Hampshire. He signed the ASSOCIATION TEST in 1776."

He reside at Epping, New Hampshire, until about 1784 or 1785 when he removed to Gardiner, ME (Maine) and soon after to Readfield, MA." Note: Family records stated place of death to be Readfield, MA. UTL a Readfield in Massachusetts. There is a Readfield Maine; hence MA maybe was meant to be ME. Readfield, Maine, is in Kennebec county.
