Though Catherine is often listed as the mother of John Callicott, family tradition and the age of Catherine on the 1850 Census suggest that the first two children were born to a first wife of Thomas Bailey Callicott, and that Catherine is the second wife. Lucy Moss is assumed to be the first wife, and is listed in several sources as such. One source gives the middle name of John Callicott as Moss (supported by a census record showing a middle initial M), again furthering the tradition that Lucy Moss was the first wife. Several pedigrees show Lucy Moss as the mother of all the children, and having died in 1849. This might just be assumption though. A note from Ancestry World Tree Census records indicate that Thomas Callicott lived in Franklin County,Alabama. It is also believed that he had a marriage prior to Catherine, but at this time, their is no data or records to verify that fact, it is purely speculation ... but this speculation is sincerely believed to be true by family members. It is believed that his first two children, were the offspring of his first wife. For simplicity's sake, I have entered all children under Thomas's second wife, and I hope this does not prove to bedistracting from actuality.
1920 Census - Baker, Lafayette, Arkansas
Death Certificate of Mary Catherine Rea Callicott - Baker, Lafayette, Arkansas
Many family trees online claim that this Thomas Callicott is the Thomas W. Callicott who married Paralee Darby and Martha Lydia MacCleary. Thomas W. Callicott's decendancy is different, and they are not the same individual. Some research into which Thomas is the child of John Callicott and Mary Catherine Rea may be productive and clarifying.
1910 Census shows no children born to Lucy, 1900 Census shows one child born and one living, although the Landis child living with them is not her daughter. This may have been the enumerator's error, or she may have had one child by Samuel Jackson
