                   Obituary, Star Valley Independent, December 9, 1976:  Funeral services were held Monday, Dec 6 in the Freedom Ward LDS Chapel at 12 noon with Counselor Cordell Luthi conducting, for Mary Magdalena Zollinger Luthi, 91, of Freedom, one of Star Valley's oldest residents, who died Dec. 2, 1976 at her home in Freedom of natural causes.  Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery.
       She was born Nov. 27, 1885 at Providence, Utah to Jacob and Rosetta Zollinger.
       She attended school in a four-room building at Providence, Utah completing all grades except part of the last one.  She loved books and gleaned as much information from them as she could.  She was the eighth child in a family of 13, and worked on her father's farm in Providence, helping with fruit harvests and helping her mother.  She enjoyed hiking, plays, picnics, birthday parties, dances and horseback riding with her friends and family.
      She was married June 28, 1916 in the Logan LDS Temple to Fredrick Luthi.
      An active member of the LDS church, she served as a teacher in the Primary, MIA, Relief Society, and Sunday School, was an MIA counselor and a Relief Society counselor for seven years; was president of the Relief Society for seven years; worked in genealogy; and directed and planned bazaars, banquets and entertainment activites for the Freedom Ward.  She was instrumental in helping to raise money for the construction of the Freedom Ward church.  As a girl in Providence, she taught a religion class.
       In her earlier years in Providence she served as a member of the "Old Folks Committee" and helped raise money for activities.
       She is survived by sons and daughters, Dale C. Luthi, Mrs. William (Beatrice) Croft and Mrs. Clyde (LeOra) Rainey, all of Freedom; Mrs. Clyde (Alta) Wolfley, Etna, Wyoming; Mrs. George (Ella) Johnson, Afton; Frank Luthi, Salt Lake City, and Ernold Luthi, Soda Springs, Idaho.  Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence D. Zollinger, Providence, Utah.
