On 03 July 1678, Nicholas Cobb sold Thomas Tooke land adjacent to James Manning and Edward Boykin.He patented 520 acres on Blackwater in 1685, and Arthur Allen sold him 525 acres on Blackwater 09 Aug 1692.On 05 Feb 1702, Arthur Allen sold to Edward Boykin of the Upper Parish of Isle of Wight County, Va. 1/2 800 acres granted to Arthur Allen and William Edwarde late of James City.Edward Boykin held 1100 acres of land in 1704.Edward Boykin wrote his will in IOW 04 Jan 1725/6, and it was in probate 27 May 1728.-----------------------------------------------------Will of Edward BoykinW: 04 Jan 1725/6P: 27 May 1728Leg:Son: John-plantation I live on and 530 acresWife: Ann, all the rest of estate-at her death equally divided among children.Exec: wife and son John.Wit: James Atkinson, Mary Atkinson, John Dunkley(Wills of Isle of Wight Co., Va. Oneaccount says he came from Charing Cr o ss, Kent, England; another says hecame from Caernarvonshire, Wales. He re n ted or leased land in 1670; wasgranted 525 acres of land by Francis Lord Ho w ard, Governor of Virginia in1685, in Isle of Wight County, "for the transpo r tation of eleven personsinto the colony".Mary Gwaltney and Boykin decenta n ts still live in this County; theGwaltneys now have a large meat packing b u siness in Smithfield.
