Samuel MCKAY, ESQ

                   Samuel McCoy's sons Adam and Allen say their father was born in  or of NC.  Their sister Rachel say Samuel was born in Ireland.

In 1793 Samuel is in Knox Co, TN and was responsible for marrying William Brummet to his daughter Martha McCoy in abt 1818.

It is possible he was in Rowan Co, NC and connected somehow to Spruce Macoy who married  1785 fanny Henderson dau of Archibald henderson.  It must be noted that his brother Adam married Catherine Henderson dau of Mannasah Henderson.

William McKay b 1759 married Nancy McKay dau of Daniel Mckay son of Iver mckay.  William is possibly Samuel's brother but William was an illeg child himself.  nancy Mckay 's family does not mention Samuel either in the will of Daniel her father nor any of her siblings.   They do pass the name Samuel on in some of their families.  William and Nancy have a son named Samuel born 1794 in Tyler co WV.   See notes on William to see reasoning for the father .
   I believe that Samuel is brother of Nancy McKay because of the dominence of names borrowed from her siblings in his own children.

His son Fleming is born in SC per his son ( Samuels grandson Samuel in the 1880 census in Miss.)  There for , I believe the first wife of Samuel McCoy is of SC and possibly a Fleming woman.
