Deed Book No. 10, pp. 107-8, Goochland Co., VA 1776, Mar 23 Last Will & Testament of William Atkisson (Attkisson) of S t. James Parish, Northam. Deed Book 12, pp. 158-159 Goochland Co., VA .: In the name of God AMEN. I William Atkisson of Goochland County & Parri sh of St. James, Northam, being sick, tho perfectly in my Senses, do ma ke this my Last Will and Testament in the following manner my Desire is th at after my Decease my body be Decently interred at the Discretion of my E xors and that Rever'd Mr. Doughlas, be got to preach my funeral sermon. A nd as to the worldly Effects and Possessions I Dispose of in the followi ng manner Item I give & bequeath to my son Josias Atkisson one hundred & s ixty acres Land being part of the Tract whereon I now live to include t he creek Tract & the Ballance to make up the Qu--ty(Quantity) to be laid o ff Joining Elizabeth Napiors line which land I do give to him together wi th a feather bed and furniture commonly called his, to him and his heirs f orever. Item I give to my daughter Anne Atkission, one Feather bed & Furni ture which bed ect. she commonly makes use of to her and her heirs foreve r. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Eliz-th Atkission one feather b ed & furniture which she commonly makes use of, to her and her heirs forev er. Item I lend the residue of my Estate to my wife Mary During her Widdow hood to be hers personally possessed without Molestation which consis ts of one hundred and fifty acres of Land whereon I now live Six negroes a ll my household and Kitchen furniture not already disposed together with S tock; Stock of horses, cattle, sheep, hogs ect. as also my Crop on hand wi th provisions ect. Item I give & bequeath unto my son Josias Atkission a nd his heirs forever, one negro boy named Dick to him and his heirs foreve r. Item I give unto my Daughter Anne Atkission, one negro girl named Jud ah to her and her heirs forever with her Increase. Item I give & bequea th unto my Daughter Eliz-th Atkission, one negro girl named Tamer & her fu ture Increase to her and her heirs forever. The whole remainder of my Esta te not already disposed of, I Desire may be sold and the money arise fr om the sale thereof I Desire to be Equally Divided between all my Sons a nd Daughters. To wit - Jesse, Stephen, Absolem, Job, Hezekiah, Isaiah, Jos ias, Anne and Eliz-th Atkission to them and their heirs forever. I do n ot mean that any of the Legacies given to my children are to be given up t ill after the Decease or Future marriage of my wife Mary Atkission, exce pt the land given Josias and the three feather beds given to Josias, An ne and Eliz-th Atkission.
