James Atlee Day was born in the Boston Mountains north of Clarksville, Arkansas. He was rasied a Mormon. When he married, his wife, Lula Lanorah Nation (Nora) joined the Mormon Church. According to the record, "My father's family had been Mormon's for five generations..." When James Atlee Day died, both he and his wife were members of the Free Will Baptist Church in Porterville, Calfirornia.
