Thomas GRAY
SOURCE CORR: with Sheila Gear of the Isle of Foula, by way of Barb Hancock (1990) also Frank Scot of Lerwick 1990 NOTE: Word "of" indicates the person was from or of that place. not necessarily born there. NOTE Thomas Gray was of Seater, Walls NOTES taken from Frank Scott (1990) Now I move on to the Foula Grays. I call them this as there is a strong connection there but they did in all probability come from the fourth Lord Gray through his sons who settled in UNST. The earliest of them I can definately trace is Thomas Gray who stayed in Seater, Walls. I cannot find any dates for him but I reckon it must have been round 1740-5 and there is a record of Catherine Andrewsdotter being widow of Thomas Gray in Seater. He was reputed to be very strong and in the file is a note about him lifting a stone on to a wall which his sons could not lift.
