    It would appear that the whole family with his thire wife, Margaret Cromarty including John Mowat's chlldren from his first wife all went to Australia in Sept 1852 on the Marco Polo. Margaret's son James with Jame Sinclair also made the journey

NOTE: In the 1851 Census John Mowat's Wife is listed as Margaret 38 year of age. Birth of Robina Mowat in the Scotish Church Records has Robina's mother as Margaret Cromarty.
Four of John's  children  are listed in the 1851 Census with Margaret as the mother, but in the Scotish Church Records  the mother of the first  7 children are listed as Barbara Munro.
This would indicate that Barbara Munro died between 1841 and 1851  and John Mowat remarried to Margaret Cromarty.
NOTE: The 1841 Census should varify this with Barbara as the wife of
         John Mowat with most of the children listed except Robina and it does.
