NOTE how the farm of South Cara was passed down from Alexander Cromarty and Margaret Stewart:  Alexander to his son William to his son James then to James's brother Alexander then to Alexander's brother Samuel then to his son John Robert then his son John, ultimitly became  the present proprietor as of the year 2000

Attempting to rescue shipwrecked men in enemy action at beginning 2nd world War, John Robert was awared a  Medal & certificate from the Humane Society, but the exposure led to his death.  This was off Grimness S.Ronaldsay. Mother and her son, John, farm South Cara Farm in S. Ronaldsay as of 1965 and still 1990
