   McGowan went with his father to Gunnister, Bressay in 1837.  Married in Bressay
   the family flit to Garthspool, Lerwick  in 1866.  She died of Child-birth
   there in 1870.  He then went to stay with his daughter Nellie at 1 Market
   Street, Lerwick.  Some of the family were born in Bressay but after their
   first son Robert died they moved to Lerwick.  There a son was born who was
   also called Robert who only lived just over a month.  Their last born child
   was McGowan who only lived three years.
