"He built the old Shelton Hall (probably the middle 1300's), a fortified castle, and St. Mary's Church at Shelton, Norfolk. He and his wife are buried in the church and the brass effigy of the warrior adorned the floor." "Sir Ralph fought in King Edward III's own company at the Battle of Crecy and was knighted for helping save the life of the King's eldest son, Edward (1330-1376)."
