This all hap- ened after a visit to Mrs. Rublee's parents whom had moved there several years earlier. A neighboring farm was for sale, and they decided to buy it. During the summer of 1910, he went to the Canadian West in a freight car load- ed with household goods and livestock destined for a farm recently bought by Dr. E.J. Edgar of North Hatley, PQ. The following year, he was joined by his fiancee, Margaret McRae. After working for Dr. Edgar for a while, the couple acquired land under the Homestead Act in a new settlement called Hope Valley, in Alberta. [Charles Rublee mans.]

He was active in church activities in both Minton and Sherbrook He was also active in the Can. Bible Soc. [Obituary, 1981]
