James BEATY

                      Info. from Tim L. Daugherty.;James Beaty and his brother Francis Beaty settled in Lancaster Co., Pa. prior to 1737. Francis moves to the area of Augusta Co.,Va. in the 1740's and 50's Francis was appointed surveyor by the British government.  By the 1760's Francis has settled in Mecklenburg Co. North Carolina.  James Beaty has remained in Cumberland Co. Pa. where he died in 1777.  Adam Neal  married the dau. of James Beaty.  Her given name is not known,however naming ways suggest that it may have been Mary.  Her sister Agnes married James Pauley.  They moved to North Carolina around 1767 and live near the children of Francis Beaty.  James Pauley worked with Francis Beaty as an assistant surveyor.  When James Beaty died in 1777 his wife, Deborah sold his land holdings in Cumberland Co. Pa. and moved with her son-in-law Adam Neal to No. Carolina.  ( The N.C.census 12th Co. lists Adam Neal and Deborah Beaty as neighbors) This move would put Deborah Beaty near her oldest dau. Agnes Pauley and the children of her late bro. in law Francis Beaty.  James Pauley and the beaty family no doubt precipitated the move of Adam Neal and Deborah Beaty to Tryon Co. N.C. in 1778.
